The OVFF is a community and international event dedicated to screening full-length, short, and animated films that embody the spirit, energy, and diversity of Venice, California. From our humble beginnings in 2003, filmmakers from local areas and abroad have descended on Venice for three days of film screenings, premieres, sell-out crowds, spirited Q&A sessions, panel discussions, local art on display, and parties with live music and DJs.
The Abbot Awards are given to filmmakers who maverick filmmaking by creating stunning and poignant cinema. These filmmakers share the spirit and artistic energy of Venices founding father Abbot Kinney. Extending the goodwill, Abbot Awards are also presented to Venetians who excel in art and community service. Recipients of the Arts & Community Service Abbots include Orson Bean, Gregory Hines, Ed Ruscha , Dennis Hopper & Oliver Stone among others.
