CATEGORY RULES
We are looking for feature films of any style and genre that will play well to the local Venice, CA audience. We have shown 20 year old features (that’s right, your film does NOT have to be completed within the previous year) as well as deserving works in progress. We try not to limit the filmmakers, but it helps if you are from the area or surrounding communities. However, this isn’t required as we screen many international films.

The Experimental section screens films that are non-narrative or Avant Garde. This section celebrates Temporal and Fine arts and anything that is off the beaten path, so to speak. Many local fine artists in Venice experiment with film and we have screened these works in the past. We are looking for many different styles and mediums to show their works, including animation and slow-animation, as well as more Avant Garde works, in the tradition of Maya Deren or Bill Viola.
